Saved township husky looking for a person to love her

Her owner died and she was surrendered because Lola was too much of a reminder.

There are so many cruel things that happen on Earth these days – one of the cruelest being what happens to animals.

This is the story of Lola, a gorgeous husky who is waiting for her forever home.

She lives at Husky Heaven, an organisation that rescued her from a township in February last year. She was surrendered by her owner’s daughter because the owner had died and Lola reminded her of her mother. She was extremely thin, covered in ticks and had worms. When she arrived at Husky Heaven, the team vaccinated her, dewormed and sterilised her. She was petrified of the team and tried to hide from everyone. However, not long after gaining some weight, she became the friendliest dog ever.

“It’s as if she knew that we were never going to hurt her, as if she knew for the first time ever, she was safe. She is still a youngster, about three years old and is the most social and energetic dog. She gets along with other dogs and she adores children. She works so gently with them and she is calm around them. Like all huskies, she loves swimming, and playing fetch,” Brenda Meyer said.

Brenda added that she is so playful. “Every morning, when we do the daily checks and want to clean her eyes, she seems to think it’s a massive game. As soon as the team members come closer, she bolts in a playful way and runs to where she can’t be caught. Then, when she’s tired, she’ll just go sit in a corner and let us clean her. She think it’s the world’s most fun game. Also, when she plays in the dirt and sticks her nose into a hole, she looks like she’s wearing make up because of her light fur.”

Although Lola is quite happy at the Heaven, she’s still waiting for her forever home. To find out more about Lola or to visit her, contact Brenda Meyer on 076 643 1482.
