Local headboy reaches out to informal settlement

On Wednesday, 18 July this group of passionate learners distributed sugar beans, maize meal, blankets, hot dogs, clothes, popcorn and fruit (among other things) to more than 700 people.

After distributing soup and bread on a weekly basis to people living on the streets, local resident and Alma Mater International School headboy, Alec Petrou decided to kick his deeds up a notch.

With the help of his mother, Mira Petrou, and a number of fellow learners, Alec decided to reach out to the underprivileged community of the Makhulugama informal settlement.

On Wednesday, 18 July, this group of passionate learners distributed sugar beans, maize meal, blankets, hot dogs, clothes, popcorn and fruit (among other things) to more than 700 people.

These learners were thrilled to have been able to take part in the Mandela Day initiative and would like to thank everyone who donated goods and contributed to the success of the event.
