The sky is the limit for Gateway learners

The day dawned with a hive of activity as the Krugersdorp Flying Club hosted a 'Fly In Fundraiser' in aid of the Gateway School which serves learners with severe intellectual disabilities.

The air at the Jack Taylor Airfield was not only filled with planes and helicopters, but also with purpose, laughter and great excitement.

According to Debbie Picket from the school, the approximately 340 learners range between the ages of five and 18 years and are representative of the whole rainbow nation.

The funds raised on this day will be used to build a big classroom that will be divided into two separate rooms. One will serve as a sewing classroom and the other as a normal classroom.

The day was filled with activities ranging from live entertainment by Touch of Class and Tanya V to a supervised games area for the children.

The fly-past of planes and helicopter flips also served to keep the adrenaline pumping.
