The FEI World Cup Qualifiers 2018 is a prime South African Show Jumping series where one can see numerous equestrian heroes in action.
The final leg in the series will be held at the immaculate Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in The Cradle of Humankind from 24 to 28 October and promises spectacular show-jumping from the top riders around the country.
The FEI World Cup is a series of international show-jumping events hosted by 15 leagues, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South East and Central Asia, China, North and South America, South Africa, the Middle East, Caucasia and Central and Western Europe.
Riders gather points over a 12-month period and stand a chance to compete in the ultimate competition, the 2019 Longines FEI World Cup Final, to be held in Gothenburg in April 2019, from which riders can take home the title of the ‘World’s Greatest Show-jumper’.
Hosted by Verity Combrink and her team, this is one of only a handful of international show-jumping competitions taking place in the beautiful Cradle of Humankind. Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm boasts five arenas, all installed by Martin Collins SA:
• The spectacular Ecotrack Wax Arena is a superior arena surface that is top of the range in the world for professional and international competition surfaces. This arena is part of the reason Maple Ridge and the World Cup attract so many competition entrants, including some of the top, and most influential South African riders
• A mountainside Clopf Fibre arena
• Two warm arenas, both in Clopf fibre
• A full-drainage warm-up arena for the main Ecotrack Wax Arena
Designed by Top FEI 4 International course builder, Marco Behrens, assisted by two top local course designers, Kate Launder and Brett Webber Nat, the course features jumps that challenge the top national riders and offers spectators an opportunity to witness the close bond existing between horse and rider.
Pop in for a family day out with food and drinks on sale, and market stalls to browse, or book your seats which includes lunch in the VIP area. General entrance is free, but R500 per person will get you in the VIP Marquee, which includes lunch.
