Kenmare couple followed home – shot at and robbed

More police have been deployed to assist the public during this time.

A tragic shooting took place in Kenmare yesterday at 2.45pm.

It is alleged that a man and his wife were driving home from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

When they arrived at their house a car with five occupants were following them and the men inside started shooting at them.

The driver tried to drive away but their car was damaged and could not drive any further.

One of the victims threw the money that they had with them out of the car window and the assailants grabbed it and left.

Both the victims were seriously injured and transported to hospital.

Reports indicate that they are in a stable condition.
According to Seargent Tshepiso Mashele, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp police, a case of armed robbery and attempted murder had been opened.

It is believed the robbers drove a BMW with an unknown licence plate.
Brigadier Mashao, station commander of Krugersdorp police, wants to urge the public to be vigilant when coming from the bank with money this festive season.

On 8 November the festive season operation was launched at various malls in the area.

Mashele said that more police have been deployed to assist the public during this time.
