Son handed over to police by mother after murder

The 29-year-old suspect was handed over to the police by his mother the morning after he allegedly stabbed an older man at a tavern.

The life of a man was lost at a tavern in Tshepisong on Sunday 11 November, just before midnight.

The following morning, the 29-year-old alleged killer was handed over to the police by his mother.

The young man’s mother, a resident of Tshepisong West (Ebumnandini) arrived at the Kagiso Police Station on Monday, 12 November with her 29-year-old son. The police were informed by the mother that an argument had begun between the deceased and her son at about 7.30pm at a tavern in Block 2.

The young man allegedly stabbed the deceased with an unknown object. The deceased, 45, was rushed to hospital but sadly died before arriving. He died from a stab wound to his upper body. The motive for the stabbing is currently unknown.

The Kagiso Police detained the young man, and opened a case against him.

“A case of murder has been opened against the 29-year-old man. He appeared in court on 13 November and is in custody waiting for a formal bail application,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.
