Police in Krugersdorp and surrounding areas had made 286 arrests by the end of last weekend.
“This is a step forward in making an impact on priority crimes as a result of intelligence-driven operations,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.
The Kagiso Police, with the assistance of neighbouring stations, made about 63 arrests during the week and another 10 during the weekend.

Some of the significant arrests included two for pointing a firearm, two for armed robbery, attempted murder, murder, murder and hijacking, negligence and loss of a firearm, possession of drugs, possession of stolen property, possession of dagga, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and theft from a vehicle.
The Krugersdorp Police made 50 arrests during the week and 10 more during the weekend.
Three suspects were traced and arrested for murder in two different cases, two people were caught in unlawful possession of explosives, and ten were caught for drug possession, assault and theft.
Sister stations in Hekpoort, Magaliesburg and Tarlton contributed by making seven arrests in their areas.
These arrests were for interfering with police duties, robbery, assault, theft and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The Randfontein Police made 96 arrests during the last seven days, while the Khutsong Police arrested a man for murder.
