Rand Water’s reservoir levels are low because the Eikenhof pumping station is not functioning at full capacity due to a faulty transformer.
The water entity said in a media statement that according to City Power estimates, it will take five to seven days to resolve this problem.

City Power has connected the Eikenhof supply to a Kibler Park transformer, and as a result they are limited to pumping 1 000 megalitres during the day instead of the required 1 200 megalitres.
They are able to pump an extra 100 megalitres only from 10pm and have to switch off the pumps in the morning.
This is now affecting reservoirs in Krugersdorp.
The following areas will receive about 20 per cent less water than usual:
Kenmare
Factoria
Mindalore
Randfontein North
Azaadville
Kagiso
Residents are asked to use water sparingly and for household use only.
