Muldersdrift Fire Protection Association seeking donations to purchase a fire engine

Because of recent complications with the West Rand Fire Department, Muldersdrift members are looking to purchase their own fire engine.

A fundraising project is under way in Muldersdrift to help with the purchase of a fire engine and other firefighting equipment.

Muldersdrift falls under the West Rand District Municipality (WRDM), which only has three fire engines to serve the entire West Rand area.

Where the WRDM cannot assist, Muldersdrift Fire Protection Association (FPA) volunteers often step in to provide assistance, using their own private vehicles and equipment, said the FPA in a recent statement.

To be able to better assist local businesses, complexes, farms, informal settlements and a large shopping centre, the Muldersdrift FPA team is hosting a fundraising event to purchase a suitable firefighting vehicle to the value of R260 000.

Multiple businesses have already joined in to support the project, and companies like Drift Reaction have offered volunteers to join in on training that will be provided by the Lanseria Airport fire team.

A raffle, which is open to all South African residents, will be drawn from donations made through BackaBuddy.co.za. The prizes include an out-of-this-world hot-air balloon flight for two, a couple’s dinner, a bed and breakfast overnight stay at a Glenburn Lodge and Spa garden suite with a half-day spa package including lunch, lunch for two at the Misty Hills Hotel, a Sunday lunch for two at the Avianto Hotel, a one night bed and breakfast stay for two at the Misty Hills Hotel, a full body massage experience for two at Spa in the Country, a R300 voucher from Garden World and a country ride on horseback for two from Lavender Lane stables.
