Hekpoort Police on the hunt for robbers

The Hekpoort Police are appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information regarding two robberies that took place recently.

The Hekpoort Police are investigating two cases of house and business robbery that were reported between 1 and 6 December.

On Friday, 30 November at 9pm, a 35-year-old man was already in bed when he heard a noise outside. He wanted to get up to check what it was, but the attackers were already in the house and in his room.

Three men wearing black balaclavas entered the room. One hit the man with a hammer, while another attacker pointed a firearm at him.

They demanded the gate remote but he said that he did not know where it was. They started moving him out of the house and in the process he managed to press the panic button. On their way out they stole his cellphone. The man sustained injuries to his forehead.

Two security guards that were on duty at the Oostermoed Total Garage in Hekpoort said that on the morning of 6 December, a man walked into the garage shop and went straight for the cash register.

The man was wearing black clothes, black shoes and a balaclava. He took all the money out of the cash register and ran away.

One of the security guards managed to press the panic button and the police were notified.

According to Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson for the Hekpoort Police, they are working around the clock to ensure that the culprits are caught, but they want to ask the community to come forward if they have any information regarding these two cases.

Residents can phone the Crime Stop line on 0800 10 111, or call 014 576 9100 or 082 333 1722 if they have any information.
