Vriendekring Vleismark robbed at gunpoint

According to the manager at the Vriendekring Vleismark he does not care about the money but is very glad that the employees are all safe.

The staff at the Vriendekring Vleismark was robbed at gunpoint earlier today (11 December).

According to Alida de Bruyn, who was working at the counter, it all happened very fast.

Two women, one who works in the office, went to a bank in Westgate this morning to get change for the day.

They came back and a short while after entering the shop Du Bruyn heard one of the women screaming.

“I turned around to see if she had fallen and that was when I saw the man and the gun,” said De Bruyn.

She added that all she could think of was her two youngest children at home. She immediately sat down to be out of the robber’s way.

Eyewitnesses said all the robber said was “bag”. The woman gave him the bag with the change and he ran away.

Luckily no one was hurt and business is back to normal.

The woman, who is more than seven months pregnant, was taken to hospital as she was experiencing pain because of the shock, but she is at home resting.

Herman Schutte, the manager said that he was just happy that all the employees are safe.
