Kagiso Police had another success this week when they arrested two brothers in Swanieville for assault and property damage on Tuesday, 8 January.
A man told the police that he was visiting a well-known tavern on News Year’s Day at 3am to buy something to drink.
One of the brothers tried to pickpocket him and he grabbed his hand to stop him. The two men began struggling and fell to the floor where they continued to wrestle. The pickpocket drew a knife and stabbed the man in his right hand.

The other brother then hit the victim with a walking stick.
The two brothers did not stop there. They went outside and damaged the man’s car as well.
The man reported the assault and damage to the Kagiso Police and a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and a case of malicious damage to property were opened.
According to Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, they started a manhunt for the 22-year-old and 24-year-old brothers, which ended in an arrest.
The brothers have appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court but have been remanded into custody for a formal bail application.
