After the story about alleged fraudulent construction contractor Jaco le Roux was published in the News in December, more complainants have come forward with their story.
Most have chosen to stay anonymous, and when Eloise gave us her account she elected not to give her surname.
According to Eloise she met Jaco after he had done some very satisfactory work for her neighbour who wanted to sell his property. She asked him to do some work on her house too, and he quoted her the very low amount of R15 000 for paint and crack repairs on the inside and outside of the house.

He asked for a 70 per cent deposit, which she paid into his bank account. Jaco worked for one week, patching up cracks in a few walls.
Eloise said, “He kept making promises, and after a while told me that his car with all his equipment had been stolen”. He then requested another R2 000 to enable him to continue the work.
“I told him that it wasn’t my fault that his things were stolen. I already paid him and he needed to finish the job,” Eloise said.
After this she never saw him again. When communicating with him on WhatsApp to enquire as to whether he’d be finishing the rest of the work, she finally asked him for her money back. He allegedly refused.
Eloise added that Jaco did not pay his workers, and they came to her house asking for their wages.
Eloise has lodged a claim in the Small Claims Court.
