Man hijacked while delivering beer – police make a breakthrough

Kagiso Police have arrested one man in connection with a hijacking in Tshepisong.

The Kagiso Police made headway on 11 January when they arrested one person in connection with a hijacking at a local tavern.

According to Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, a man was hijacked on 8 August 2018, while delivering sorghum beer to a tavern in Tshepisong.

He had parked his Nissan bakkie outside the tavern to drop off the order. As he was exiting the tavern and returning to his bakkie, two people armed with firearms confronted him.

They searched him, took all of his personal belongings and forced him into his vehicle. His hands were bound behind his back and they all drove off in his delivery vehicle.

After a while, the suspects dropped him at an abandoned field in Slovoville.

The man went to the Dobsonville Police Station and managed to call his son to come and take him back to Kagiso.

He opened a case of hijacking with the Kagiso Police.

One of the suspects was arrested at Snake Park near Dobsonville after a lengthy manhunt.

The man will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court today. Kagiso Police are still searching for the man’s accomplice and the bakkie.
