Nursery stabber sentenced for murder

A young woman from Hekpoort has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for murder.

The 20-year-old Onica Gabonewe from Impala Nursery in Hekpoort has been found guilty of murder by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.

On 1 September 2016 at 10pm, Gabonewe stabbed and killed a 25-year-old man at Impala Nursery. The paramedics were called to the scene but the victim was dead when they arrived.

Detective Constable Seshoka handled the case and the evidence eventually led him to Gabonewe.

The court has sentenced Gabonewe to 15 years in prison for murder and has declared her unfit to possess a firearm.

The Hekpoort Police station commander, Captain DL Teffo, welcomed the sentence, and thanked the community for their involvement in reducing crime in the area.
