Reckless driver in Hekpoort faces drunk driving charges

Hekpoort police have arrested a man for drunk driving after noticing him driving recklessly.

A 29-year-old man from Hekpoort is facing charges of drunk driving.

The Hekpoort Police arrested the man on the R563 road on Tuesday, 15 January, after seeing him driving recklessly and overtaking six cars at the same time.

They followed him and eventually managed to stop him.

When they tried to talk to him, they noticed that he could barely walk and could not finish his sentences. They also found a 750ml bottle of beer already opened and stashed in the driver door.

The man was arrested and taken to hospital for blood tests.

He appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, but the case was postponed, pending the results of the blood test.
