Being a thief is not what it’s cracked up to be

Three men from Hekpoort were caught by a vigilant Hekpoort policeman and a little help from the community.

There is a saying that says, “Don’t count your eggs before they have hatched”. Well, three men from Hekpoort did, and found themselves in trouble!

On Saturday, 19 January, the Hekpoort Police arrested three men between the ages of 28 and 30, for being in possession of suspected stolen property.

According to Constable Mosito from the Hekpoort Police, he received a call about a suspicious bakkie while he was doing his patrols around the Hekpoort area.

He followed up on the tip-off and managed to stop a red Nissan bakkie that was heading towards Krugersdorp. When he searched the vehicle, he found four boxes of eggs, each box containing 30 dozen eggs.

He then asked the men where they had obtained the eggs and they replied that they had got them from a local egg farm.

But when Constable Mosito investigated further, he realised the eggs were in fact stolen.

The three men were placed under arrest, and the ‘yolk’ was on them!
