The Kagiso Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman on charges of attempted murder.
The two were arrested in Tshepisong on 17 January at 2.20am, after the sector members received a complaint about a shooting.
At 9pm on 16 January, the police received a call about a shooting while patrolling at Block 3 in Tshepisong. They swiftly responded to the scene of the crime and found a witness at the scene.
The witness, who is allegedly also a tenant in the same yard, informed the police that he was inside his shack when he heard gunshots outside.
When he went outside a few minutes later, he was shocked to see someone lying on the ground. He recognised the victim as one of his fellow tenants. He immediately phoned the police and the victim was rushed to a local hospital in a critical condition.
When inspecting the scene, the police found three used cartridges, but the motive for the shooting is still unknown.
Police received information a few hours later that led to the arrest of the two suspects. They were taken to the Kagiso Police Station and charged with attempted murder.
“I am impressed and so touched to see the positive attitude from our communities, assisting police with information. This relationship is working wonders,” praised Brigadier Maduna, the station commander of the Kagiso Police.
