The West Rand Police have secured a total of 148 arrests during this past weekend.
One of the cases that made headlines is of a 42-year-old man from Randfontein who was arrested for shooting and killing his wife. The woman’s body was found in a shallow grave in the man’s yard.
Other crimes for which arrests were made included business burglary, carjacking, robberies, sexual assaults, rape, pointing a firearm, drunk driving, malicious damage to property, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of drugs, trespassing, assault, theft, selling liquor without a licence and possession of counterfeit goods.
According to Constable Constable Gloria Maswanganye from the West Rand Cluster Corporate Communications division, the West Rand Cluster commander, General Kekana was satisfied with the arrests and congratulated the members for their hard work.
She said that he also expressed his appreciation towards the community members who work very hard with the police to prevent crime.
All those arrested will appear in various courts on the West Rand.
