A man has been arrested after he and his friends allegedly robbed a spaza shop in Rietvallei on Tuesday, 29 January.
The owner of the shop said that at about 2.30pm he was busy in the shop when three people entered. One of them waited at the door while the other two pretended to browse in the shop.
One of the robbers pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the owner, while another robber held him at knife-point.
The person standing by the door then proceeded to load cash, airtime vouchers, cartons of cigarettes and three cellphones into a black school bag.

Afterward they fled on foot.
An unlicensed firearm with several rounds of ammunition and three cellphones were found in the 37-year-old’s possession and he was arrested.
An investigation has been launched to establish if the man was involved in the spaza shop robbery that took place only a few streets from where he was arrested.
The man has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as suspected stolen property.
