Woman cons man out of R100 000

A man from Kagiso thought he was buying a home for himself and his family but in the end he was left with nothing.

The woman in the photograph is wanted for fraud after ‘selling’ a house for R100 000 and then disappearing.

After depositing an amount of R20 000 into her bank account between 24 and 28 December last year, the hopeful buyer went to view the house at Mayibuye in Swaneville – and found it locked.

The woman then told him that the tenant who had been looking after the house was not home.

On 15 January, she phoned the buyer and told him to come to court and pay R2 000 of the R7 000 needed by an attorney to draft a contract. The remaining R5 000 was to be paid after the contract was completed.

On 22 January, the buyer transferred the remaining R80 000 plus the attorney’s balance of R5 000 into the ‘seller’s’ bank account. He then made arrangements to move into the house.

The woman promised to call him but has not been seen or heard from since.

The man tried to move into the house but found that the person already occupying the house had official documents and a title deed.

The Kagiso Police are asking the community to help them to catch this fraudster. Anyone with information on the woman’s whereabouts can phone the Kagiso detectives on 011 969 9104/ 9059/ 9065 or 9067. They can also contact detective Sergeant Mabalane on 074 641 3580 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
