Two arrested in CBD for attempted bank fraud

Two suspects attempted to get a loan from Capitec Bank with fraudulent documentation but were soon found out.

A 29-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were recently arrested on suspicion of bank fraud.

The two suspects allegedly went into a branch of Capitec Bank to apply for a loan on Tuesday, 26 February at about 1.40pm.

When staff checked, their identification documents were found to be fraudulent.

Police were sent out and the two suspects were arrested and detained in the Krugersdorp holding cells.

“The Krugersdorp station commander commended the members for their response and thanked the bank staff for working hand in hand with the police to fight crime,” said spokesperson Captain Raymond Sebonyane.
