Ten injured in early morning accident

Ten people were injured in an accident in Kagiso. The Jaws of Life had to be used to free one man.

An accident in Kagiso saw ten passengers injured, One of them had to be freed with the Jaws of Life.

A statement from Netcare 911’s media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst, said they responded to reports of a collision on the K13 in Kagiso at 6.18am on Thursday morning.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a mini-bus taxi and a light delivery vehicle were involved in a head-on collision,” said Herbst.

When paramedics arrived on scene, they found nine adult passengers with minor to moderate injuries.

However, the tenth passenger, a man, was in a critical condition and the Krugersdorp Fire and Rescue Services had to use the Jaws of Life to free him from the wreck.

All the patients were treated on scene. Once stabilised, they were transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment,” Herbst explained.
