Winter warning – residents are urged to be vigilant
Krugersdorp police urge residents to be vigilant as winter approaches.
As we are approaching winter, and it becomes darker earlier and earlier, residents of Krugersdorp are advised to be vigilant when working and travelling around town, as criminals might tend to take advantage during this time.
The News contacted the Krugersdorp Police to get some advice about how to keep safe during winter.
Captain Raymond Sebonyani, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police Station, urged the members of the public, more especially pedestrians, to be vigilant and to keep their belongings safe and out of sight.
If you are listening to music on your earphones and your cellphone is in your hand, you become an easy target for a criminal wanting to rob you of your phone.
“Do not walk alone; rather walk in groups and avoid areas where there is no movement, if possible, more especially after dark,” said Sebonyani.
Report any suspicious person or vehicle to the police immediately, using their emergency number – 10111.
