Power outage due to ‘melted’ power cable

The municipal workers' strike is also affecting the speed at which the problem is resolved.

Since this morning (22 November), a number of suburbs in Krugersdorp and surrounds have been without power, and it seems that those affected will have to wait a little longer before it is restored.

The reason? A cable ‘melted’ in Endom Street, across from Laerskool Kenmare. Ward councillor Dr Andries Eksteen informed the News that the live wire had been sealed off.
“I’ve escalated this to higher authorities as a primary emergency.

While this is emerging, residents should also take note of the municipal workers’ strike, which resulted in teams not attending to any emergency … However, an emergency team is currently attending to the problem,” Eksteen said.

The Mogale City Electricity Department has asked that residents remain patient while they work on the issues to be resolved.
