Road blocks this festive season

The Arrive Alive Festive Season project was officially kicked off on Rustenburg Road in Tarlton.

The festive season and holiday period are here again, and historically brings with it an increase in road accidents.

Mogale City’s Public Safety, in cooperation with the Krugersdorp Fire Department, local police and the municipality, have launched its Arrive Alive initiative for this period.

This will see a high increase in roadblocks, general public safety and police presence on the roads in and around the Mogale City area. This will run alongside the Arrive Alive’s initiative in other towns as well.

Last week the project was officially kicked off on Rustenburg Road, at the entrance of the Krugersdorp Game Reserve’s main gate, in Tarlton. Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) alongside Mayor Naga Patrick Lipudi opened the ceremony by thanking all law-enforcement officers present.

MMCs and the Mayor proceeded to help stop oncoming vehicles, personally handing out a festive season greeting.

This festive season they will place especial focus on drunk driving, possession of correct road paperwork and the road worthiness of vehicles.

The maximum blood alcohol level allowed to drive under is still 0,05, which often means that one drink may put you over the limit, depending on your body-type, how often a person drinks and how fast the person’s metabolism processes alcohol.
