Women seriously injured in Magalies accident

Two women were seriously injured and one of them had to be airlifted following an accident in Magaliesburg over the weekend.

A woman was airlifted by the Netcare 911 Helicopter Ambulance following a car accident on Saturday, 4 January.

Netcare 911’s Shaun Herbst said in a statement that the accident occurred on the R24 Rustenburg Road near Magalies Junction at 11:26 am on Saturday morning.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a light motor vehicle and a heavy motor vehicle were involved in a collision,” Herbst’s statement read.

He explained that medics assessed the scene and found two women had been seriously injured. The women required Advance Life Support intervention to stabilise them while the West Rand Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to free them.

“Due to the nature of one of the patients’ injuries, a Netcare 911 Helicopter ambulance airlifted the most severely injured patient to a specialist facility for the care she required,” explained the statement.
