Mayor’s passing a hard blow to Krugersdorp

Reports have been received that the Mogale City Mayor, Naga Patrick Lipudi has sadly passed away over the weekend due to a still undisclosed illness.

The Mogale City Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Naga Patrick Lipudi sadly passed away on Sunday morning, 12 January, after being admitted to the Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg earlier. The Mayor was 59 years old.

The cause of the Mayor’s death has not yet been made public by his family or municipal officials, but it was reported that the mayor succumbed to an illness after a short stay in hospital.

Mayor Lipudi had been serving as Executive Mayor since 2017, representing the ANC in Mogale City. He had been involved in many major municipal decisions and reforms throughout his time in office, and had been a part of countless charity and other municipal programmes and events.

Mayor Lipudi made a difference wherever he went, touching many people’s lives in and around Krugersdorp. He was especially well-known for his uplifting and excitable, at times very lengthy and thorough speeches at events.

His broad, warm and constant smile still echoes throughout town and he will be missed by many.

May the Mayor never be forgotten, and his name engraved in the foundation of Mogale City.
