Eskom has released a statement saying they will be implementing load reduction in certain areas today (29 July) from 5pm to 10pm.
The reason is to avoid overloading the network in high-density areas.
The areas that will be affected are Bekkersdal, Kagiso, Rietvallei and Sinqobile.
Customers are urged to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid power surges when the power returns.
Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damage to household appliances when supply is restored,” read the statement.
Eskom has asked community members not to log faults during this period and to report illegal connections to the Eskom Crime Line on 0800 111 27 222.
