Residents of Kagiso were shocked when they discovered the body of a man lying in a pool of blood recently.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said while police were busy with a crime-prevention operation in the area they were stopped by residents who showed them the body of a man with a stab wound lying in the street.
Police called the emergency services, who upon arrival declared the man dead on the scene. He had sustained a stab wound to the upper body. The suspect allegedly fled to his house after stabbing the victim,” Sibiya said.
Police reacted to this information and drove to the 42-year-old suspect’s house in Swanieville on 4 October where his family handed him over upon the police’s arrival.
“The suspect then took out a weapon from his jacket and handed it over to the police. He was arrested and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of murder was opened.”
Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander applauded the police members on duty for their swift response as well as the role residents played to ensure that the suspect was caught in time.
The suspect will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
