Community in shock following discovery of child's body on Sunday evening.

A seven-year-old boy was found dead next to the Mchenguville informal settlement in Munsieville, Krugersdorp Police confirmed.

Captain Raymond Sebonyane, Krugersdorp Police spokesperson said they are investigating a case of murder.

He said the child was reported missing at 10.30am on Sunday, 11 October. Tragically, his body was found by a passer-by that day at about 5.45pm lying in an open field on top of the mountain next to the informal settlement.

After making the discovery, community members were called and it was confirmed that it was the boy who had been reported missing.

He was identified by his mother. The deceased had small visible injuries to his neck and blood stains to the nose. The motive of the death is unknown at the moment and investigations continue.”

Although community members alleged that the boy’s body was mutilated, Sebonyane refuted this.

He said the police are appealing to the community to provide them with any information that could assist with the investigation.
