Breast cancer awareness at Valleyview

Wings of Hope, in association with Health Worx and Diane Redelinghuys Ultrasonography recently explained to women what kind of support they can get if they're ever diagnosed with breast cancer.

The ladies from Wings of Hope know all about the pain, hardship and sorrow that come with the fight against cancer.

Each volunteer (or should we call them the angels of Wings of Hope) has been through the struggle herself and survived her bout with cancer.

Today, the angels are looking to support other women who find themselves in the same fight.

“We’re a breast cancer support group,” explained member Gail Myburgh. “We’ve been around for seven years and all of us are survivors. We are not counsellors, but we support women from the day that they’re diagnosed.”

On Saturday, 17 October, these angels partnered up with Dawn Spagna at Health Worx and Diane from Diane Redelinghuys Ultrasonography, to spread awareness and screen women at the Valley View Retail Centre. If the screening deemed it necessary, they were sent to Diane’s practice for an ultrasound.

Diane generously offered free ultrasounds during the day.
