On her way to pageant royalty

Krugersdorp’s sweetheart Marné Kriedemann has made her way to the final stage of the Supermodel International South Africa pageant and is now going straight for the crown.

What started out as a school pageant she did on somewhat of a whim in her Grade 9 year has grown into a lifelong passion for 22-year-old Marné Kriedemann.

“In high school I was crowned Miss Norie Junior in 2013,” she explained.

“In 2016 I entered the Top Model South Africa (TMSA) competition, which is more of a model search than a pageant. At the end of the day I was runner-up in the TMSA Runway category.”

Marné is currently in her fourth year as a Dentistry student at the University of Pretoria. As though not having enough on her plate, she jumped at the opportunity when approached by a scout for the Supermodel International South Africa (SISA) pageant.

“Each time I was scouted was a few days before the closing dates of competitions, so I had to act fast,” she boasted.

Luckily I did, because I fell in love with the purpose behind the pageant, to empower women with the knowledge to bring about change to communities in need. By competing, I stand a chance to bring about that change.”

Now, Marné stands tall among the final 10 contestants of SISA, where she’ll be expected to walk the catwalk in a bikini, evening wear and an avant-garde/ haute couture outfit, and be interviewed by the judges one more time on 28 November.

“A balanced life is very important to me, so working out and eating healthy are priorities.” She most recently played netball for the university’s U/21A team and participates in the Warrior Race and 947 Cycle Challenge.

“I’m results-oriented, constantly checking in with my goals to determine how close I am and what it will take to make it happen.”

Charity is also near and dear to her heart.

Most recently she has helped out at the Pretoria School for Cerebral Palsied Learners, Friends of Rescued Animals (FORA), CANSA and church donation runs.

Her goal is to get a chance at the Miss South Africa crown and become the best dentist she can be. As for others dreaming of following her example, she said, “Be encouraged by adoration, positive elements, your insight and your allure; not for your body, but for your mind and the goals, dreams and aspirations it holds. But most importantly, know who you are and where you want to go.”
