These arrests were made on 21 October at about 9pm in Extension 14 for a crime they allegedly committed in Extension 12 on 5 September, said Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson.
“The victim alleged that she went to her male friend’s place in Extension 13 but could not find him. As she tried to leave, the two men blocked the way and kept her there for some time,” Sibiya said.
She was later taken to a nearby street party in Extension 12 and once the party was over the two men took the victim to an isolated spot where they took turns raping her without protection.
The matter was reported to the police and the victim was able to identify the two suspects.
“We are very concerned about what is happening in Extensions 12, 13 and 14. Within just two days we arrested eight suspects accused of rape. We are not going to be kind or negotiate degrading crimes directed at women and children; we will leave no stone unturned to bring perpetrators to book,” warned Kagiso Police station commander, Brigadier Themba Maduna.
