Court date for stabbing at shopping centre, still to be determined

More than two months down the line, the case has still not made it to court

In September this year the News posted a video showing two men involved in an incident in which one man allegedly was stabbed.

The incident occurred at a shopping centre in Noordheuwel on 20 August, and both men subsequently opened cases against each other.

Colonel Madikwena Magdeleen Maboe from the Krugersdorp Police confirmed in September that two men had opened cases of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against each other.

“The case dockets have been returned from the Senior Public Prosecutor and he has given further instructions. The dockets will then be returned to court after all queries from the Prosecutor have been dealt with,” she told the News in September.

However, more than two months down the line, the case has still not made it to court.

Rumours about the docket having gone missing were quickly dismissed, with Krugersdorp Police station commander, Brigadier Mashao stating that dockets are loaded onto their system electronically, and additional physical case dockets are filed.

He confirmed that in this particular all case dockets are available and accounted for.

The News enquired with the National Prosecuting Authority’s Regional spokesperson: Gauteng, Phindi Mjonondwane, about when the case will be heard in court.

She confirmed that the docket is with the Chief Prosecutor who is busy studying the contents.

“We will revert as soon as possible,” she said.

As far as the News could confirm, no court date has been set for the case yet.

The Krugersdorp News will continue following up on this case and inform its readers as soon as additional information becomes available.
