Every cent goes back to helping others

Coming from a background where he wasn’t always able to get everything he wanted, Thabo Jamo has dedicated himself to helping youth in similar or worse situations.
Thabo recently published two motivational books. He explained that these books would serve a dual purpose.
He wants the youth of the West Rand to read these books and use them as inspiration to make a success of their lives. The proceeds from his book sales are also going to be used to assist less fortunate and orphaned children in the community.
“I want to inspire people; I want them to know that anything is possible in life. I want them to have hope. I want these books to lead them from where they are to where they can be,” he said.
The first book, Light to the Darkness features a short story with words of encouragement to the reader. The second book, Simplicity is a motivational book with steps one can take to better oneself.
The books also feature stories of hope that Thabo has come across with the work that he does through his non-profit organisation, Black 888.
He explained that he currently funds his charity work out of his own pocket, and hoped that the sales from the book would assist with the funding.
Thabo wants the Mogale City Local Municipality to be more open to buying the books of local authors for their libraries. This way they help fund a good cause and the youth who visit the libraries can see that real people in their community have become a success.
On 21 November he will be hosting a special book party. He is inviting those who are 18 years and older from all over the West Rand to join him at his book launch. They can bring their own drinks and meat to braai while pap and salad will be provided.
Entrance will be R20 per person and the funds from this event will be used to provide groceries to less fortunate families over the festive season.
