Eskom responds to power supply issues in Muldersdrift

Eskom contact centre is currently inundated with calls, and customers are encouraged to use other channels to log a fault to minimise the long waiting periods.

Eskom released a statement saying that customers across Gauteng are experiencing extended power supply interruptions today, 4 November.

The interruptions are caused by multiple network faults, coupled with storms affecting parts of Lanseria, Morningside, Muldersdrift, Paulshof, Petervale, Soweto and Zandspruit.

“Due to the high call volumes, it may take a prolonged period of time to completely clear the backlog and restore supply to all affected customers. The Eskom recovery teams are working around the clock towards repairing the faults and damages to restore supply to the affected areas,” read the statement sent by Ronel Kotze, Communication Practitioner at Eskom’s Communication and Stakeholder Relations Department.

They added that they apologise for the inconvenience caused and wished to assure that they were doing their best to restore the supply.

“Customers in the respective areas will be updated regarding the developments via Eskom social media platforms and other channels. For safety reasons, customers are urged to treat all electricity points as live at all times.”

The statement also said the Eskom contact centre is currently inundated with calls, and customers are encouraged to use other channels to log a fault to minimise the long waiting periods.

Faults can be reported through the Eskom app, by sending an email to customerservices@eskom.co.za, via sms to 35328, or the Contact Centre on 08600 37566 (24hrs).
