Couple shot late at night in K’dorp: Man killed

A man and woman were found shot late on Sunday night. The woman was taken to hospital but the man did not survive. It is believed they were attacked.

One man lost his life while his girlfriend had to be taken to hospital after being shot in Krugersdorp late on Sunday evening, 8 November.

Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander confirmed an incident in which a man and his girlfriend were shot.

Although allegations of this being an attack by illegal miners have surfaced, Maduna said they could not confirm all the details as the police are still waiting for the woman to regain consciousness. They first want to confirm with her what had happened.

Allegations suggest that the two victims were driving when they had to pull over for a flat tyre. Then they were attacked by illegal miners in the area.

Maduna confirmed the couple was shot on the R41 and found in a NP200 bakkie just past the corner of the R28 and Windsor Roads.

Maduna said the man was declared dead on scene while the woman was taken to a nearby hospital.
