While busy searching rooms at the Madala Hostel in Kagiso, three police members discovered 82 packets of nyaope and 23 rock foil packets filled with drugs which ultimately led to the arrest of two people.
The two suspects were arrested on 10 November at about 10am after the Crime Prevention Unit’s Sergeant Motloung, Constable Munyai, Constable Gasa and Constable Koie who were on duty, conducted searches.
Other members of the team also helped to search another room, and a 34-year-old woman was found in possession of an additional 380 nyaope wraps.

The woman and a man were arrested for possession of the drugs and detained at the Kagiso Police Station.
Captain Irene Tshikovhi from Kagiso Police’s Social Crime Prevention Unit added, “The woman tried to bribe the member with R500, and a charge of bribery was added”.
She said that The estimated value of the drugs they confiscated was R7 000. This included the cash found on the premises.

Brigadier Themba Maduna, the Kagiso Police station commander, hailed the members for their good work and dedication. He also issued a warning to drug dealers, who he said were destroying the community, especially the young generation, with their drugs.
