Blacksounds and their Imibuzo about life
Blacksounds has recently released their first full 12-track album and can already celebrate a few thousand streams.
Two short years ago, Blacksounds launched their extended play (EP) album with only six songs on it. This was a demonstration of purpose to show that they’ve got what it takes to take on the big boys in the music industry.
Fast forward to 2020 and this local music collective kept their promise to release their first full album, titled Imibuzo, which translates to questions in Zulu, emphasising the many questions they have about the world and life in today’s society.
The 12 songs together give off a sense of the ‘blessings’ one gets in this world, explained band manager Kagiso Selele.
Umsebenzi and You Need Me are the most loved songs. Umsebenzi is a song about celebrating and respecting any type of job. It’s about a black hustle and respecting the job that one does. It’s a song everyone can relate to,” Kagiso said.
“You Need Me is the song about love. It’s about sharing love and celebrating those you love.”
The members all agreed that there isn’t one song they’d single out as their favourite, but that each track has a different meaning and, so, is loved by people for different reasons.
Kagiso noted that some of the songs have already been played on YFM, Vow FM and Westside FM a few times.
We have received an amazing reception thus far. The album has been streamed 18 500 times and we have our music listened to or streamed in 63 countries.”
