Presents galore to Burgershoop community thanks to Deo Gloria

Although the rain threatened to spoil a fun day the team from Deo Gloria House did not give up and drove around handing out presents instead in Burgershoop.

The rain did not stop the team from Deo Gloria house when they spread Christmas cheer to the community of Burgershoop recently.

A fun-filled day at the Burgershoop Community hall was planned for the elderly and the needy, but when the sun rose on Saturday morning, 5 December, it was evident that some plans had to change. So instead, the group travelled to the 15 elderly and 25 children who were to receive gifts at the party.

Maud Breet from Deo Gloria House said they do this every year. As a non-profit organisation they aim to help different sections of the community and usually host three to four events a year. She said the need is bigger than ever, and more and more people are coming to ask them for assistance.

The children each received two boxes – one with Lego, and the other with clothes and toiletries. Every child also received a sweets packet, hot dog, custard and a chocolate.

The elderly all received a box of Bakers biscuits with a handmade bag. The bag was filled with deodorant, soap, a wash cloth, body cream, shampoo, conditioner and a shaver.

She said that none of this would have been possible without all the sponsors who helped them make this Christmas function a special one.

Maud Breet from Deo Gloria House said they do this every year.

We firstly want to thank Christa and George le Roux, the owners of the Deo Gloria House for the opportunity to help our less fortunate community in Burgershoop. Then Schalk and Ina Botes, Winnie Kruger and her team, ABC jumping castles, Ria and Toeks Wessels, the Candyfloss Company, Champfoods as well as all the telesalers.”
