Liquor store burglary: 146 cases of beer, 32 boxes of whiskey stolen

The owner alleged that she left her liquor store properly locked but found a hole in the roof when unlocking it the next morning.

Kagiso Police arrested three suspects between the ages of 28 and 31 in Zulu Jump following a burglary at a local liquor store during the festive season.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson said the incident took place on Tuesday, 15 December 2020.

The store owner alleged that she left her liquor store properly locked at 7pm on Monday, 14 December. When she returned the following day at about 6am to open the business, she found her doors still locked but was shocked to see a big opening in the ceiling.

“She further noticed that a big as well as a small cash safe had also been cut open with an unknown object. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, including 32 boxes of brandy and whiskey, and 146 cases of beer. Police launched an investigation, and traced and later arrested three suspects. They have already appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.”
