Decomposed body found in field: Two arrested

The decomposed body of a man was found in October last year. The police have arrested two people on charges of murder and say there could be more arrests.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a decomposed body last October.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson explained that they arrested two suspects aged 24 and 28 over the weekend. The decomposed body of a man was found dumped in an open field near Sinqobile last year.

On 10 October concerned residents of Sinqobile called the Kagiso Police and reported the discovery of an unknown body in a field. When police arrived at the scene they found residents gathered at the open field not far from Sinqobile residential area.”

The police then conducted preliminary investigations and learned from a next of kin that the man had been reported missing to the Kagiso Police on 4 October.

A murder case was opened and the Kagiso Police’s investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects.

“The motive for the murder is also under investigation. Police can not rule out more arrests in connection with this crime.”

Both the suspects have already appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on murder charges and were remanded in custody for the investigation to continue.
