Man dies after alleged fight outside local bar

'He was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, but unfortunately he did not make it' – Krugersdorp Police.

A man had succumbed to his injuries after an alleged fight outside a bar in Kenmare over the long weekend.

Captain Raymond Sebonyane, the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson confirmed that a murder investigation is currently under way.

He said they received a call from the deceased’s sister at about 10.50am on Tuesday, 23 March who explained that her 45-year-old brother had passed on after the alleged fight on Monday, 22 March.

“He was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, but unfortunately he did not make it,” Sebonyane said.

Colonel Danie Truter, the Krugersdorp Police acting station commander said, “It is regrettable that police cannot stop people from abusing alcohol, but we are concerned about the results thereof. It remains the people’s responsibility to drink responsibly.”
