Protest intensifies: Motorists warned to stay away

Community members have been protesting in Badshani Road in Kagiso from early Wednesday morning. They are throwing stones at passing vehicles.

Road users are strongly advised to use an alternative route as protesters in Kagiso have turned their frustration on passing vehicles.

The Suburban Control Centre posted about a strike in Badshani Drive in Rietvallei, Kagiso, at about 7am on Wednesday, 7 April.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, the Kagiso Police spokesperson confirmed that the strike is still ongoing and that Public Order Policing have been called to help disperse the crowd.

Protesters are burning tyres, blocking roads and throwing stones at passing vehicles. The reason for the protest has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed to relate to the shooting of a man recently.

Sibiya urged road users to use alternate routes.
