The Krugersdorp Police and the West Rand Trio task team are investigating a case of business robbery that was committed last week.
Captain Raymond Sebonyane, the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson said the incident took place at one of the big stores on the corner of Commissioner and Monument Streets in the Krugersdorp CBD at about 4.10pm on Wednesday, 21 April.
“The victim alleged she was officially on duty and busy behind the counter when an unknown man entered the shop. He bought a R10 Telkom airtime voucher and left,” Sebonyane explained.
The man then came back with another man and they threatened the victim with a firearm and instructed her to open the till. The victim then reportedly called the store supervisor who opened the till.
“The robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones, most of them Mobicells and Hisense. They then drove away in a white Nissan Almera with registration number HP 86 JW GP. All of them wore masks.”
Sebonyane said that no arrests have been made so far and no shots were fired, nor were any injuries reported.
“We are appealing to the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects,” Captain Sebonyane said.
