A book about life for teens, young adults
'I want people who read it to continue fighting' – 23-year-old law student about her book.
Having gone through some troubles in her life, 23-year-old Refiloe Raborifi has always turned to writing as a way of expressing herself. She has turned these penned pieces into her very first book.
Refiloe explained that the book titled You are flamed if you are not free is about life in general.
“The struggles of teenagers and young adults … it happens to all of us,” she said.
Although she did not want to make the book about her own life and tried to generalise a lot of what she wrote, she admitted that some of the chapters in the book were very personal.
“I wanted people to be able to relate. I am not a very expressive person and this book was my way of expressing myself.”

She started writing in 2019 and did not necessarily have a book in mind, but she would ask her sister to read what she had written. Eventually her sister convinced her to publish a book, which she only finished at the end of 2020.
“When people read it, I want it to make an impact. I want people to know that if they are in a bad situation they can get out of it. I want people who read it to continue fighting.”
Rifiloe is also studying law and said whether she became a famous writer or a famous lawyer, she wanted to make an impact.
She would like to thank her family who inspired her every day.
