The Krugersdorp Sector 3 Community Policing Forum has confirmed that a hijacking had taken place in Krugersdorp North on Thursday, 13 May.
This comes a day after Major General Kekana, West Rand District Police commissioner said he was concerned about the increase in hijackings, and warned all motorists to be vigilant and observant when travelling.

In a post on the Sector 3 CPF Facebook page they urged community members to take note and be aware of their surroundings when arriving at or leaving their homes.
The post said they received a call from one of their members regarding a shooting during a hijacking. The attack happened in Bodenstein Street in Krugersdorp North at about 12.30pm.

First-aiders and patrollers immediately responded to the scene where they found a 68-year-old man who had been shot in the arm after two thugs with a firearm had knocked on his window. They treated the victim until Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene. The patient was then transported to hospital.
“Patrollers kept the scene safe and ensured that all evidence was preserved until all relevant authorities were on scene; the scene was handed over to police.”
The community and law-enforcement reportedly were asked to be on the lookout for a Daihatsu Terios and the vehicle was later recovered in Kagiso.
The CPF thanked their patrollers and first aid personnel, Mapogo Security, Dowry Security, ADT Reaction, police detectives, Police Trio Task team members, Police Forensics and Netcare 911 in their post.
The News has requested comment from the police, and they are yet to respond.
