Man arrested 24 hours after allegedly committing murder

The police have arrested a man 24 hours after he allegedly murdered a 36-year-old Kagiso man.

A 32-year old man was arrested one day after allegedly killing a 36-year-old man in Tshepisong Phase 6, Kagiso.

In a statement from the Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, he said the Kagiso Police’s sector police were patrolling on 7 May at about 7pm when they noticed a group of people outside a house.

“They found the body of an unknown man lying and bleeding on the street.” He was confirmed dead by paramedics.

Sibiya said a murder docket was opened and a manhunt for the suspect was launched, as at that stage police were unable to confirm which murder weapon had been used, or how the man had been murdered.

“With a healthy relationship between the police and some community structures within the Tshepisong area, positive information and tips reached Kagiso Police about the suspect’s whereabouts.”

The suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest within 24 hours of the murder being committed.

He was detained at the Kagiso Police Station and had already appeared in court. Sibiya said the manner in which the 36-year-old was murdered and the type of weapon are being investigated.
