The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has issued a statement explaining the reasons for the problems residents have been experiencing with water supply today.
They said the Mogale City Water Service Division is aware that the water pressure in most parts of the town is low, and that some have no water supply at all.
MCLM ascribes this to problems at Rand Water’s Eikenhof Pump Station, which directly affects the bulk water supply to most parts of Mogale City.
As a result, the reservoirs are operating at very low levels, which affects the water supply and pressure, ultimately impacting consumers.
“Rand Water has confirmed that a team is working on resolving the problem; however, it will take some time before our reservoirs are back to normal,” read the statement.
Mogale City pleads with residents who still have water supply to please use it sparingly while Rand Water works to get the system back to full capacity.
“We apologise for the inconvenience caused, and appeal to affected residents to please be patient while services are being restored.”
